Understanding the difference between
Half-Couch and Full-Couch Viewing

The most common option at funerals is the half-couch viewing. This is where the top end of the casket opens for viewing, leaving the bottom half covered.

Some people prefer a full-couch viewing where the entire top of the casket is opened for a full body view.

This is popular among bishops, priests, and deacons of the Catholic Church, as well as certain regions throughout the United States.

A full-couch option is available for every Abbey Casket upon request.

A priest throw interior is added to our Traditional Caskets to create a full-couch option.

Our Monastic Casket features a removable lid, allowing you to create a full-couch casket without the added priest throw interior.
