The Child Monastic Poplar Abbey Casket is made of tulip poplar hardwood. Saint Meinrad chose poplar wood for this casket because the tulip poplar tree is very prevalent in southern Indiana. The natural finish of this casket shows off the variety of color and grain patterns. The Monastic Abbey Casket is fully lined in a pleated pattern in off-white muslin. Two wooden handles allow for ease of carrying.

The Traditional Cherry Abbey Casket is made black cherry hardwood. Black cherry wood is a rich reddish-brown color and is a strong, hard and close-grained wood. A dark cherry stain is applied giving each casket a rich appearance similar to mahogany. This casket is designed for a left-sided viewing.
The Traditional Abbey Casket is fully lined in off-white linen. A solid wood swing bar handle is secured with Venetian bronze hardware on all four sides for ease of carrying.
