The Traditional Poplar Abbey Casket is built of tulip poplar hardwood. Saint Meinrad chose poplar wood for this casket because the tulip poplar tree is very prevalent in southern Indiana. The lumber has a variety of color and grain patterns. A dark cherry stain is applied giving each casket a rich even color.

The Traditional Abbey Casket is fully lined in off-white linen. A solid wood swing bar handle is secured with Venetian bronze hardware on all four sides for ease of carrying.

Delivery: Shipping & handling by common carrier is included with price of casket. Call for expedited, weekend or holiday delivery charges. Delivery is available 7 days a week.

  • Finish: Cherry stain, also available in natural finish
  • Lining: Off-white linen fabric and adjustable, innerspring mattress
  • Dimensions: Each casket will fit into a standard burial vault or grave liner.
    Interior: L 78″ X W 24″ X H 17″
    Exterior: L 81″ X W 27″ X H 20″
  • Keepsake: Removable wooden cross in lid, approximately 8″ X 12.” Additional keepsake crosses for family members are available: $35 per cross
  • Options: For an additional fee, all crosses available with:
    Engraving: $30 per cross
    Gold or Silver Corpus added to cross included with casket: $20 per cross
    Additional cross with Corpus: $55 per cross
    Deacon or Deacon Wife sash added to cross included with casket: $15 per cross
  • End Plaque: Plaque at the foot of each casket reads: May He bring us all together to everlasting life. From the Rule of St. Benedict.
